RESOLUTION TO DELETE A PORTION OF AND MODIFY IN PART RESOLUTION NO. 01-191 AUTHORIZING A CONTINGENCY APPROPRIATION AND AMENDMENTS TO THE FRIEND OF THE COURT BUDGET FOR LEASING OFFICE SPACE AND RELATED COSTS



WHEREAS, in Resolution #01-191, the Board of Commissioners authorized entering into a lease with Altman Properties for 17,496' of office space at Town Center; and



WHEREAS, a lease has not yet been signed; and



WHEREAS, leasing space for use by the Ingham County Friend of the Court is contingent upon the approval of the thirtieth Judicial Circuit Court; and



WHEREAS, the Circuit Court has not given such approval but has made a recommendation to the County Controller of space the Court determines is more suitable for the Friend of the Court's needs at a lower cost to the County; and



WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has been advised by the Controller of the availability of alternate space which appears to be sufficient to house all of the occupants of the Grady Porter Building, including the Friend of the Court, during renovation; and



WHEREAS, leasing space for use by the Ingham County Friend of the Court is contingent upon the approval of the thirtieth Judicial Circuit Court; and



WHEREAS, the Circuit Court has not given such approval but has made a recommendation to the County Controller of space the Court determines is more suitable for the Friend of the Court's needs at a lower cost to the County; and



WHEREAS, the total estimated cost of the alternate location, including parking and technology, is estimated to be $300,000 less than the $1.5 million previously estimated; and



WHEREAS, the Circuit Court and County Prosecutor are in agreement with this proposed relocation plan.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby rescinds its approval to enter into a lease with Altman Properties for 17,496 square feet of Town Center space for the period of July 1, 2001 through December 31, 2002, as granted in Resolution



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that, as part of the Grady Porter Building renovation project authorized by Resolution #01-196, the Ingham County Building Authority is authorized to negotiate and enter into a short term lease for the temporary relocation of employees.

RESOLUTION #01-212



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham Count Board of Commissioners authorizes the County Controller to take such appropriate action as necessary to notify and resolve the matter with Altman Properties regarding rescinding approval to lease space at the Town Center.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the $50,000 authorized to be utilized for the renovation of Town Center and the $17,000 authorized to be utilized for moving expenses in Resolution #01-191 shall be advanced to the Ingham County Building Authority for renovation and moving expenses.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such expenses shall be reimbursable for the proceeds of the bonds sold for this project.
