RESOLUTION HONORING ROXANNA PETERSON



RESOLUTION #01-242



WHEREAS, on October 9, 1972, Roxanna Peterson was hired by the City of Lansing Planning Department as a Planner; and



WHEREAS, she was confirmed by the Lansing City Council on September 4, 1973 as the Senior Citizen Coordinating & Information Director for an area wide Model City Project on Aging within the City's Planning Department; and



WHEREAS, as the Senior Citizen Coordinating & Informatin Director she established a regional planning organization within Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties, as well as the Cities of Lansing and East Lansing and created an information and referral program for Lansing's elderly residents; and



WHEREAS, on September 23, 1974, the Tri-County Office on Aging was formed with Roxanna Peterson as the Executive Director; and



WHEREAS, Roxanna provided administration and managerial leadership for four major service programs: Medicaid Pre-Admission Screening; Meals-On Wheels & Nutrition; Senior Employment and the Area Agency on Aging; and



WHEREAS, the leadership she provided in the Capital Campaign resulted in $1.6 million, exceeding the anticipated goal; and



WHEREAS, throughout the years, Roxanna has been a true friend and supporter of the senior citizens in the tri-county area; and



WHEREAS, on September 28, 2001, Roxanna is retiring from her position as Executive Director of the Tri-County Office on Aging.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby extend its sincere appreciation to Roxanna Peterson for her outstanding service as Executive Director of the Tri-County Office on Aging and for her dedication and devotion to the senior citizens of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners wish Roxanna continued success in all of her future endeavors.
