RESOLUTION TO TRANSFER FUNDS IN THE CURRENT 2001 CIRCUIT COURT - FAMILY DIVISION BUDGET FROM THE GROUP HOME ACCOUNT TO PERSONNEL COSTS FOR THE TRUANCY COURT PROJECT



RESOLUTION # 01-289



WHEREAS, the Circuit Court - Family and General Trial Judges in collaboration with the Lansing School District, Ingham County Prosecutor's and Sheriff's Offices, the Mayor of the City of Lansing, and the Lansing Police Department have all united to address the attendance issue in the Lansing School District; and



WHEREAS, the Circuit Court - Family and General Trial Judges and all the above mentioned departments have developed a comprehensive strategy for all the middle school children in the Lansing School District to impact early absenteeism. This project will be referred to as "Truancy Court" and Judges will conduct 13 Court sessions in 2001. Youth who have been ticketed for truancy will appear in front of the Judge for him/her to determine the appropriate disposition of the case; and



WHEREAS, to implement and continue this project, County and Court personnel will be utilized in the Courtroom, after regular Court hours. The Truancy Court will operate from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Thursday evening, starting September 20, 2001; and



WHEREAS, the Circuit Court - Family Division recognizes that to accomplish this plan, funds need to be transferred from the Family Division 2001 budget, Group Home account, to meet personnel costs. Also, the Court will be seeking an amendment to our original 2002 budget request with a proposed plan to conduct thirty-five (35) Court sessions in 2002 budget year.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorize $6,869 to be transferred from the Family Division's Group Home account, 292-66207-818340, to personnel accounts of the appropriate County departments involved and Court line items, as determined by the Court and the Budget Director.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorize the Controller to make necessary budget amendments as authorized by this resolution.
