RESOLUTION HONORING COLONEL DEAN SIENKO
RESOLUTION #01-294
WHEREAS, Dean Sienko has been employed with Ingham County since 1988 as the Medical Director of the Ingham County Health Department and Chief Medical Examiner; and
WHEREAS, Dean Sienko is also a Colonel with the Army National Guard and has been on active duty in Kosovo; and
WHEREAS, in 1982, he received a direct commission from the Wisconsin Army National Guard, in 1984 he transferred to the U.S. Public Health Service (USPHS) where he served on active duty as a medical epidemiologist at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control; and
WHEREAS, following his tour of duty with the USPHS, Colonel Sienko joined the Michigan Army National Guard where he graduated from the Army Flight Surgeon course in 1989 and supported aviation units within the Michigan Army National Guard until 1997; and
WHEREAS, in 1991, during the Persian Gulf War, Colonel Sienko served with the 207th Evacuation Hospital, Michigan Army National Guard in Saudi Arabia; and
WHEREAS, 1997 he transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve and joined the 334th Medical Group as their preventive medicine officer, later that year he was selected to command the 4201st U.S. Army Hospital, which he commanded until near the unit's deactivation in 1999; and
WHEREAS, Colonel Sienko briefly commanded the 323rd Combat Support Hospital before being selected in December, 1999 to command the 307th Medical Group, which he still commands; and
WHEREAS, Colonel Sienko is the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal and the Senior Flight Surgeon Badge, he is a graduate of the Army Command and General Staff College and a member of the Army War College class of 2001; and
WHEREAS, Colonel Dean Sienko will be returning from his tour of duty in Kosovo on October 9, 2001.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honor Colonel Dean Sienko for his commitment and contributions to the United States of America and the County of Ingham.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board extends its sincere appreciation to Colonel Dean Sienko and welcomes him back to his position as Medical Director of the Ingham County Health Department and Chief Medical Examiner.
