RESOLUTION HONORING CHAPLAIN AARON MILTON



RESOLUTION #01-32



WHEREAS, in July of 1963, at the age of 18, Aaron Milton moved to Lansing from Cotton Plant, Arkansas in pursuit of his dream to relocate to the North and pursue better employment; and



WHEREAS, in 1965, Aaron was hired at the Fisher Body Car Plant where he faithfully served as a dedicated employee for over 35 years; and



WHEREAS, to continue his education, he attended Employee Chaplaincy Training Sessions through GM, Charles Harrison Mason Theology Seminary College, conventions, seminars, conferences and many workshops; and



WHEREAS, in 1989, Aaron was appointed General Motor's first full-time paid UAW Chaplain; and



WHEREAS, in 1983, Chaplain Milton organized the Jesus of Nazareth Church of God in Christ, where he serves as Pastor; and



WHEREAS, he was responsible for the establishment of the first African American Church in Holt, and continues to serve as Volunteer Chaplain at the Ingham County Sheriff's Office, Superintendent of the Central District and the Administrative Assistant of the 4th Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Southwest; and



WHEREAS, to his friends, family and congregation, Chaplain Milton is known for his sweet, kind personality and his willingness to put others before himself; and



WHEREAS, on January 1, 2001, after 35 � years of dedicated service, Chaplain Aaron Milton retired from General Motors.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honor Chaplain Aaron Milton on the event of his retirement and sincerely appreciate the contributions he has made to the community and the citizens of Ingham County.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners wish him continued success in his future endeavors.
