RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ENTERING INTO A CONTRACT FOR LEXIS/NEXIS FOR LEGAL RESEARCH

RESOLUTION #02-119

WHEREAS, the current electronic law library, WestLaw Premise does not operate on Windows 2000; and

WHEREAS, the current system requires ongoing work by the MIS Department in order to keep the information up to date; and

WHEREAS, County Departments have had the opportunity to use both the WestLaw and LexisNexis on-line systems; and

WHEREAS, the current system costs $1,073.00 per month and the LexisNexis system will cost $950 per month.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorize a contract for an amount of $950 per month for the use of the LexisNexis on-line law library system from April 1, 2002 through May 31, 2005.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the funds for the contract shall continue to be paid from the MIS budget and expenses allocated on a pro rated basis to the affected Departments.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorize the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign any necessary contract documents for the service consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
