RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION FOR CRITICAL BRIDGE FUNDING FOR THE VAN ATTA ROAD BRIDGE OVER THE RED CEDAR RIVER IN MERIDIAN CHARTER TOWNSHIP

WHEREAS, the Van Atta Bridge over the Red Cedar River is under the jurisdiction of the Ingham County Road Commission; and



WHEREAS, the Road Commission has been closely monitoring the bridge's structure since 1994, and due to its condition applied for critical funding at that time and was not successful; and

WHEREAS, since then, the bridge beams and deck has deteriorated to the point where the Road Commission may be forced to severely reduce the bridge's load capacity, and covert the bridge to a one-lane bridge, or close the bridge completely; and



WHEREAS, to assist the Road Commission in obtaining critical bridge funding, the Road Commission is requesting that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners adopt this resolution supporting their request to apply for federal and state critical funds.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby supports the submission of an application for critical bridge funds by the Ingham County Road Commission for the replacement of the Van Atta Road Bridge over the Red Cedar River located in Meridian Charter Township identified as: MDOT Bridge ID 33-3-10-H00023-B010, Structure No. 3909, Section 25 of Meridian Charter Township, Ingham County, Michigan.
