RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT A KELLOGG FOUNDATION GRANT AND AUTHORIZE A SUBCONTRACT WITH FAMILY AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT SERVICES



RESOLUTION #02-132



WHEREAS, the Health Department has a contract with Family and Community Development Services as part of its outreach services to minority populations; and



WHEREAS, Family and Community Development Services provides translation, transportation, cultural interpretation and other services to support the needs of Muslim individuals and families living in Ingham County; and



WHEREAS, the Health Department serves a large number of Muslims in its clinical services, and must have the capacity to interact with the Muslim community for disease control and environmental issues; and



WHEREAS, the W.K.Kellogg Foundation has awarded a $116,400 grant to supplement services to the Muslim community; and



WHEREAS, the Kellogg Foundation anticipates that Ingham County will act as the fiduciary agent for the grant; and



WHEREAS, the Health Officer has recommended that the Board of Commissioners accept the Kellogg grant and authorize a subcontract with Family and Community Development Services.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners accepts the W. K. Kellogg Foundation grant of $116,400 to support the development of comprehensive and integrated primary health care services for the Arab American community.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners authorizes a subcontract with Family and Community Development Services, a non-profit corporation serving the Muslim Community in the Lansing Area.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the subcontract with Family and Community Development Services will be in the amount of $116,400 with the term of the subcontract to commence May 1, 2002 and to continue until the time set forth in the Kellogg Foundation Grant.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners Chairperson is authorized to sign all documents related to the grant with the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and the subcontract with Family and Community Development Services, after review by the County Attorney.
