RESOLUTION TO ACCEPT THE MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF STATE POLICE, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT DIVISION 2002 STATE DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS EQUIPMENT GRANT (SDPEG)



RESOLUTION #02-133



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office Emergency Operations Division has applied for and has been approved to receive a grant from the Michigan Department of State Police, Emergency Management Division, to procure specialized emergency response equipment that will enhance the basic defensive capabilities of the state and county to respond to an incident of domestic terrorism or incident involving weapons of mass destruction; and



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff's Office Emergency Operations Division in cooperation with the Ingham County Local Emergency Planning Committee has identified some specialized emergency response equipment eligible for funding through this grant and consistent with the Michigan Three-Year Domestic Preparedness Strategy; and



WHEREAS, this cooperative effort will continue to identify other eligible equipment with other eligible local municipalities for these grant funds.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves the acceptance of the 2002 State Domestic Preparedness Equipment Grant (SDPEG) from the Michigan Department of State Police, Emergency Management Division for the time period of February 4, 2002 through December 31, 2002 at a total cost of $61,202.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that up to $ 26,000 in grant project expenditures are authorized for a decontamination unit and up to $ 4,500 in LEPC budget expenditures are authorized for a suitable trailer to transport the decontamination unit.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that no further project expenditures are authorized until the Sheriff's Office/Emergency Operations Division present a full program description and budget to the Board of Commissioners and Controller's Office for approval.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign any necessary contract documents that are consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners directs the Controller to make the necessary budget adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff's Office and LEPC 2002 budgets.
