RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE TWO AGREEMENTS WITH THE BALDWIN COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT
RESOLUTION #02-156
WHEREAS, Ingham County has been the recipient of two adolescent heath program grants for several years, one supporting the Peer Education Program operated by Willow Plaza Services and the other supporting the Community Health Center at Otto Middle School; and
WHEREAS, funding for these two grant programs was eliminated by the Governor's Executive Order in November, 2001, with funding ending on January 31, 2002; and
WHEREAS, the State has restored the funding for adolescent health programs, but has moved the responsibility for administering the funds from the Michigan Department of Community Health to the Michigan Department of Education; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Education has contracted with the Baldwin Community School District to act as the fiduciary agent for the Adolescent Health Program for FY 2001-2002; and
WHEREAS, the Baldwin Community School District has offered Ingham County two agreements, resulting in the restoration of adolescent health funds eliminated by the November, 2001 Executive Order; and
WHEREAS, the Health Officer has recommended that the Board of Commissioners authorize the two agreements with the Baldwin Community School District.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes two adolescent health program agreements with the Baldwin Community School District for the period February 1, 2002 through September 30, 2002.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that one agreement shall provide for the Baldwin Community School District to provide $106,899 to support the Community Health Center operated by the Health Department at Otto Middle School in the Lansing School District.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the other agreement shall provide for the Baldwin Community School District

to provide $56,517 to support the Peer Education Program operated by the Health Department through Willow Plaza Services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chairperson is authorized to sign the agreements with the Baldwin Community School District after review by the County Attorney.
