RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INGHAM COUNTY BUILDING AUTHORITY

TO PROCEED WITH PLANS FOR THE EXTERIOR MASONRY RESTORATION PROJECT AND FINANCING OF THE INGHAM COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY



RESOLUTION #02-231



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Facilities Office and the Board of Commissioners authorized the Architectural Firm of Wigen, Tincknell, Meyer & Associates to inspect the Ingham County Correctional Facility 1979 Addition to determine the extent of the building's exterior deterioration and to prepare alternative solutions to repair the exterior of the facility; and



WHEREAS, Wigen, Tincknell, Meyer & Associates has provided those alternative solutions to the Sheriff's Office, the Controller's Office and the Ingham County Building Authority; and



WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office, Controller's Office, and Ingham County Building Authority have developed a recommendation for the Exterior Masonry Restoration Project.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Ingham County Building Authority to proceed with the financing and plans for the Exterior Masonry Restoration Project at the Ingham County Correctional Facility 1979 addition, based on the plans and cost estimates provided to the Law & Courts Committee on September 5, 2002.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the projected cost of the Exterior Masonry Restoration Project, plus fees are not to exceed $250,000.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that any and all costs incurred by the County and the Ingham County Building Authority with respect to this project may be reimbursed from bond proceeds associated with this project.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes an advance of up to $50,000 from the General Fund to the Ingham County Building Authority for expenses incurred prior to the issuance of bonds for the project.
