INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING INGHAM COUNTY TO APPLY FOR FUNDING

UNDER THE MICHIGAN REGIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS PLANNING PROGRAM ON BEHALF OF THE RED TEAM

RESOLUTION #02-42

WHEREAS, Governor Engler, in his State of the State message on January 23, 2002, has called for initiatives to hasten expansion of high speed Internet access; and

WHEREAS, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) has invited proposals from counties under the Michigan Regional Telecommunications Planning Program (a part of the Michigan-Link initiative); and

WHEREAS, the Regional Economic Development (RED) Team has prepared a Notice of Intent to apply for funding on behalf of the three counties of Ingham, Eaton, and Clinton; and

WHEREAS, MEDC requires a County to be the applicant; and

WHEREAS, the RED Team has requested that Ingham County be the applicant; and

WHEREAS, the EDC Board of Directors is recommending that Ingham County be the applicant.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that Ingham County agrees to be the applicant and fiscal agent on behalf of the three counties, the RED Team, and the members of the RED Team.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Ingham County will authorize up to $5,000.00 toward the required local match; to come from the EDC budget, provided that the other local partners also contribute an additional $24,000.00 toward the required local match.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chairperson and County Clerk are authorized to sign any necessary documents after review by the County Attorney.
