RESOLUTION ENCOURAGING EMPLOYEE VOLUNTARY TIME OFF WITHOUT PAY FOR THE 2002 BUDGET YEAR



RESOLUTION #02-46



WHEREAS, in order to achieve short term savings for the 2002 budget year, the Board of Commissioners wishes to encourage Department Heads, Elected Officials, and Judges to allow employees voluntary time off without pay.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners hereby encourages Department Heads, Elected Officials, and Judges, where possible, to allow employees voluntary time off without pay in 2002.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the decision to allow employees time off without pay of 10 days or less in 2002 shall be at the sole discretion of the Department Head, Elected Official, or Judge based on the department's work flow.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in such cases where employees are allowed time off without pay, temporary employees shall not be used in place of the employee on leave.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that employees taking voluntary time off of ten (10) days or less shall have their medical insurance continued, and will not be required to use annual accumulations.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the above shall only be implemented if not n violation of any union contract and the Chairperson is authorized to sign any necessary or required letters of understanding with the unions.
