RESOLUTION REAFFIRMING RESOLUTION #02-230 - RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE INGHAM COUNTY BUILDING AUTHORITY TO PROCEED WITH REVISED PLANS FOR THE RENOVATION AND FINANCING OF THE INGHAM COUNTY CORRECTIONAL FACILITY



RESOLUTION #03-102



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorized "A Study for Work Release, Training Facilities and Emergency Operations Center" by the architectural firm of Wigen, Tincknell, Meyer & Associates, to conduct plans for renovating the building in such a manner as to provide the greatest benefit to the Sheriff's Office at an affordable cost, and



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approved Resolution # 02- 230, Resolution Authorizing the Ingham County Building Authority to Proceed with the Renovation and Financing of the Ingham County Correctional Facility, and



WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office has stated that they believe there is sufficient interest to rent up to ninety beds (90) for this project, and



WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners wishes to proceed with this project.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners reaffirms Resolution #02-230 and authorizes the Ingham County Building Authority to proceed with the financing and renovation of the Ingham County Correctional Facility, based on the plans and cost estimates provided to the Law Enforcement Committee on September 5, 2002, with regard to this alternative:



Renovation of the Ingham County Correctional Facility's old receiving and old kitchen area to be used primarily for a work release area, training facilities, emergency operations center, line up area, maintenance storage area, added parking and locker facilities including the movement of building occupants to locations best designed for prisoner flow and job duties.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that final space utilization plans are to be presented to the Board of Commissioners for its approval prior to authorizing the architect to proceed to bid documents.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the number of beds reserved for local use at the Ingham County Correctional Facility shall be maintained at the current number of four hundred and seventy-two (472).
