RESOLUTION HONORING PATRICK DEHN BUTCHER

RESOLUTION #03-024

WHEREAS, Patrick Butcher is a senior at Williamston High School where he has participated as a band member throughout his high school years, and is a current squad leader; and

WHEREAS, he is also an active member of the Quiz Bowl and Varsity teams, and has been involved in Quiz Bowl for four years and served as the captain of the Junior Varsity team; and

WHEREAS, Patrick was an active participant of the Williamston Cub Scout Pack and joined Boy Scout Troop #63 in 1996, he has earned 26 merit badges; and

WHEREAS, Patrick became a member of the Order of the Arrow in 2001 and a member of the Brotherhood in 2002, he serves on the publications committee and ceremonies team for the Gabe-Shi-Win-Gi-Ji-Kens Lodge and has also served as a den chief, patrol leader, assistant patrol leader, historian and troop guide; and

WHEREAS, his eagle project was constructing a teaching garden for the community education programs at the Williamston Community Education Building; Patrick spent 20 hours planning his project, 20 fellow scouts, friends and family members spent an additional 81.5 hours in the construction of the project.

WHEREAS, Patrick has earned the highest rank attainable in Scouting, the Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, to achieve the Eagle rank, a scout must demonstrate leadership and citizenship while earning 21 merit badges before reaching the age of 18.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners congratulates Patrick Dehn Butcher for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extends its sincere appreciation to Patrick for serving as a positive role model for the youth in our community.
