RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE ASSUMPTION OF CAPITAL AREA RAIL COUNCIL FUNCTIONS BY THE CAPITAL AREA TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY

RESOLUTION #03-315

WHEREAS, in December 2000 the Ingham County Board of Commissions passed resolutions authorizing Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) to assume responsibility for Capital Area Rail Council (CARC); and

WHEREAS, on November 5, 2003 the CARA Board authorized amendments to the By-Laws of CARC confirming that Capital Area Transportation Authority would become the sole director of CARC, and that the currently participating organizations will become members of an advisory committee called the Passenger Rail Council; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners supports the changes being made.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners approves the By-Law changes as presented by CARC.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners commits to participation as a Participating Organization, including the payment of dues for 2004 in the amount of $2,350.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the current County appointed representative (Commissioner Mark Grebner) is continued as the County representative on the Passenger Rail Council through 2004.
