RESOLUTION HONORING PAMELA STANTS



RESOLUTION #03-94



WHEREAS, Pamela Stants has been a member of the Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health Board of Directors for the past seven years and has served, for two years, as the Chair of its Recipient Rights Committee; and



WHEREAS, in 2002, Pamela Stants, became the first consumer of Community Mental Health services to be elected to the position of Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health Board; and



WHEREAS, she has served in that role throughout 2002 and will step down in March, 2003; and



WHEREAS, Pamela's considerable experience in advocating, at both the local and state level, on a range of mental health issues, made her a highly effective Board Chairperson; and



WHEREAS, her courage, commitment, and selflessness were key to her ability to lead the Board of Directors and the organization through what could have been, in the absence of her leadership, devastating events; and



WHEREAS, because of her personal experience with the mental health system, Pamela has been able to provide a unique insight into Board decisions and to serve as a powerful spokesperson for the Community Mental Health Board of Directors and for consumers of Community Mental Health services; and



WHEREAS, Pamela serves on the Executive Committee of the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards and is an active member of its Member Services Committee, she also serves as a member of the Recipient Rights Conference Planning Committee of the Michigan Department of Community Health; and



WHEREAS, she is a trainer on mental health issues, having spoken to hundreds of Michigan's citizens, across the state, in workshops sponsored by the Michigan Department of Community Health, the Michigan Association of Community Mental Health Boards, and other human service organizations.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honor Pamela Stants for her years of dedicated service as a member of the Clinton-Eaton-Ingham Community Mental Health Board and for the contributions she has made to the citizens of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties.



BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board wishes her continued success in all of her future endeavors.
