RESOLUTION HONORING ANDREW JAMES BELANGER
RESOLUTION #04-001
WHEREAS, Andrew James Belanger is a senior at Williamston High School where he is enrolled in Honors classes, along with his other studies and holds a 3.5 GPA; and
WHEREAS, Andrew has been a member of the varsity tennis team throughout his high school career and has won four medals in tournament play; and
WHEREAS, Andrew was an active participant of the Williamston Cub Scout Pack and joined Boy Scout Troop #63 in 1997 where he has earned 44 merit badges; and
WHEREAS, he is a brotherhood member of the Order of the Arrow and has served in nearly every position within the troop, he currently serves as the Senior Patrol Leader; and
WHEREAS, as a member of the Gabe-Shi-Win-Gi-Ji-Kens Lodge, he serves on the ceremonies team and is the head of the Lodge's dance team; and
WHEREAS, his Eagle Project involved the refurbishment of children's bicycles that could be donated to needy children within the surrounding communities, thirty bicycles were donated to this project, each was thoroughly checked over, cleaned, painted and repaired as needed; Andrew spent 16 hours planning his project and 28 hours on its completion, 28 fellow scouts, friends and family members spent an additional 93 hours assisting in the refurbishment of the bicycles; and
WHEREAS, Andrew has earned the highest rank attainable in Scouting, the Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, to achieve the Eagle rank, a scout must demonstrate leadership and citizenship while earning 21 merit badges before reaching the age of 18.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners congratulates Andrew James Belanger for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extends its sincere appreciation to Andrew for serving as a positive role model for the youth in our community.
