 RESOLUTION HONORING DAVID MCGUIRE, II

 

RESOLUTION #04-328

 

WHEREAS,   David McGuire, II began studies this fall at Michigan State University in pre-medicine after graduating from Williamston High School in June of  2004, where he was a member of the National Honor Society; and

 

WHEREAS, during his high school career, David also participated in the Symphony and Marching Bands, several high school drama productions, Varsity Soccer, where he made the 1st All–Conference Team and was voted the #1 Goalkeeper in the District, and in 2003 he was selected as the Williamston representative to the American Legion Boys’ State; and

 

WHEREAS, David began Cub Scouting in 1993 as a member of  Pack 1 at Delta Center Elementary School in Delta Township, he joined the Williamston Boy Scout Troop 63 in 1997 and has served his troop as assistant patrol leader, quartermaster, patrol leader, grubmaster and assistant senior patrol leader; and

 

WHEREAS, David is also a member of the Order of the Arrow, in 2000 and 2002 he participated in back packing expeditions to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico and served twice as part of the Governor’s Honor Guard on Mackinaw Island through Troop 111, based out of Delta Mills/Waverly.

 

WHEREAS, David’s Eagle Project involved designing and constructing a specialized taping station for the Williamston High School Athletic Department; and

 

WHEREAS, he spent 18 hours planning the project and with the help of 17 scouts and family members spent an additional 100 hours completing the project;

 

WHEREAS, David has recently earned the highest rank attainable in Scouting, the Eagle Scout; and

 

WHEREAS, to achieve the Eagle rank, a scout must demonstrate leadership and citizenship while earning 21 merit badges before reaching the age of 18.

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners congratulates David McGuire, II for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extends its sincere appreciation to David for serving as a positive role model for the youth in our community.
