RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE CREATION OF A SERVER TECHNICIAN/ COMPUTER ROOM COORDINATOR POSITION

RESOLUTION #04-350

WHEREAS, the emphasis of the Management Information Services (MIS) department has significantly changed in the last few years from mainframe based to server based; and

WHEREAS, the MIS director has recommended changing the Operations staff position (Position #DATPRO007) to a Server Technician/ Computer Room Coordinator; and

WHEREAS, the primary reason for this adjustment is the fact that we no longer have a mainframe and have over 40 file servers to support; and

WHEREAS, implementation of this request would result in a more efficient operation of the MIS department and increase our ability to be proactive; and

WHEREAS, the Human Resources Department has evaluated the position affected by adjustment and has proposed a proper classification under the ICEA County Professional bargaining unit; and

WHEREAS, the ICEA is in agreement with this classification.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes a reorganization of the MIS Department.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Position Number DATAPRO007 shall be changed from Operations Staff to Server Technician/Computer Room Coordinator.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the salary grade for this position shall be ICEA PRO05.
