RESOLUTION HONORING THE INGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND OTHER PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES FOR THEIR WORK IN THE RICKY HOLLAND CASE
RESOLUTION #06-131
WHEREAS, on July 2, 2005, Ricky Holland was reported missing, triggering one of the most massive manhunts in Ingham County’s history; and
WHEREAS, there was a massive outpouring of community support with over 600 volunteers working with public safety agencies to conduct the search for the 7 year old boy with Ground Teams, four-wheelers, ultra light aircraft, dive teams, Civil Air Patrol planes and K-9 units; and
WHEREAS, for months, investigators aggressively pursued every tip, lead, and possibility in this case; and
WHEREAS, on January 27, 2006,
police discovered Ricky’s remains in rural Ingham County Township; and
WHEREAS, on February 7, 2006, Tim and Lisa Holland were charged with open
murder in Ricky’s death; and
WHEREAS, on February 28, 2006, a preliminary exam began for Tim and Lisa
Holland which concluded on April 11, 2006, when it was ruled there was enough
evidence to send Tim and Lisa Holland to trial on charges they abused and
killed their son Ricky, and bound the Holland’s' case over to Circuit Court
after the longest preliminary exam in the history of Ingham County.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners would like to thank and recognize the many volunteers, public safety agencies and other individuals that played significant and positive roles in this incident, and for their highly professional response and assistance in this search and investigation that ultimately led to the arrest of the suspects with the case being bound over to Circuit Court for trial.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Michigan State Police, along with the Prosecutor's Office for their professionalism and dedication during this enormously difficult case.
