ADOPTED - SEPTEMBER 28, 2010

                                                                                                                                                   Agenda Item No. 42

Introduced by the Law Enforcement and Finance Committees of the:

INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION TO CHANGE THE FISCAL YEAR FOR THE

COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS FUND (#267)

RESOLUTION #10-317

WHEREAS, Resolution #10-050 changed the fiscal years for the Friend of the Court Cooperative Reimbursement Fund (#215) and the Prosecuting Attorney Cooperative Reimbursement Fund (#298) from a year ending December 31 to a year ending September 30; and

WHEREAS, this was done to address the difference between the fiscal years for the State=s Cooperative Reimbursement Program and the County=s Budget, which created problems with reporting, billing expenses, and auditing purposes between the County and the State of Michigan; and

WHEREAS, in previous years, the fiscal years had been changed for similar reasons for the Health Fund (#221), the Family Division Child Care Fund (#292), the DHS Child Care Fund (#288) and the DHS Social Welfare Fund (#290); and

WHEREAS, the Community Corrections Fund (#267) will be the only fund remaining where reporting, billing and auditing would be greatly simplified by a change in fiscal year; and

WHEREAS, since modifications will need to be made in Ingham County’s financial software system (MUNIS) to accommodate the change in fiscal years for the two Cooperative Reimbursement funds, and in order to be consistent across funds, it is desirable to make the change to the Community Corrections fund at this time as well.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the fiscal year for the current Community Corrections Fund (#267) Budget will end on September 30, 2010, and that succeeding fiscal years for this fund shall begin on October 1.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller/Administrator is authorized to make any necessary budget adjustments consistent with this resolution.
