Mason area by studying the past Williamston Depot Museum The Williamston Depot Museum is dedicated to preserving and communicating the heritage of the Williamston/Webberville region. Many displays to see in our museum. Our tour hours are Mon-Fri from 8:30 to 1 pm and during May call the museum for times. Waterloo Farm Museum and Dewey School Museum Waterloo Farm Museum and
Dewey School Museum Operated by the Waterloo Area Historical Society, these
museums transport you about to rural farm life of the mid to late 1800s.
The Farm Museum is comprised of a main house and several outbuildings
including a milk cellar,wind mill, bake house, ice house, workshop and granary
(which also house the Museum's gift shop). The Dewey School Museum allows
children from near and far to experience some 19th Century rural schooling. Open
Wed-Sun, 1pm-5pm. Closed Mon & Tue. Admission for the Farm Museum is
$3.00/adults, $2.50/ages 62 , $1.00/youth ages 5-18. There is no admission fee for
members of the Waterloo Area Historical Society. Special events have an
additional $1.00 Michigan Historical Museum As the flagship of Michigan's state museum system, the
Michigan Historical Museum surrounds visitors with Michigan history from
prehistoric times through the late twentieth century. Twenty-six permanent
galleries and a special exhibit gallery are located on five levels. A
three story relief map of Michigan greets the visitor in the museum's main
atrium. Walk through an Upper Peninsula copper mine, stroll along a 1920s street,
explore the 1957 Detroit Auto Show--and more. Don't miss the Museum Store
for great Michigan related gift items! Located two blocks southwest of the State Capitol, the
312,000-square-foot Michigan Library and Historical Center boasts five-story
glass atriums, a live 55-foot-tall Michigan white pine surrounded by a
copper-clad outdoor courtyard and a limestone exterior. The building houses
the Library of Michigan and the Michigan Historical Center, which
includes the Michigan Historical Museum and the State Archives of Michigan. The
Library of Michigan, our state's version of the Library of Congress,
houses more than 5.6 million items stored on over 27 miles of shelving.
The Library's impressive holdings include one of the ten largest
genealogical collections in the United States, a unique Michigan collection and
legal materials dating back several centuries. With documents dating back
to 1797, the State Archives of Michigan houses much of Michigan's recorded
heritage. Established in 1913, the State Archives holds more than
100 million state and local government records and private papers, 330,000
photographs and 500,000 maps, plus films and audio tapes that are
available for public research in this state-of-the-art facility. Michigan Supreme Court Learning Center A hands-on gallery designed to help schoolchildren and the general public understand the judicial branch of state government. Designed for fourth grade and above. Groups of eight or more are required to make reservations.
