Nutrition Education Program

MSU Extension's food and nutrition education programs include the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education Program (SNAP-ED).  EFNEP provides food and nutrition education to low-income families with children.  SNAP-ED provides food and nutrition education to anyone eligible for or receiving food stamp benefits.

The programs include education on basic nutrition, making the most of food resources, and recommended food safety practices.  MSU Extension collaborates with other agencies to coordinate efforts and refer families to local community services that can best meet the families' needs.  Nutrition education programs in Michigan are available free-of-charge to low-income families and youth.

Please contact our office to enroll in these free programs or to make a referral. You can also contact us by email at:  cpkue@ingham.org or mcgarryj@msu.edu
