WHAT WE DO...
The Jury Administration function is
responsible for ensuring that each court, within Ingham
County, has the proper number of qualified prospective
jurors, as required by the individual courts. In
addition to, or as a by-product of determining and
securing qualified jurors, detailed records and
correspondence are maintained within the office.

Jury Administration/Selection
The Jury Board oversees jury
selection activities and Jury Administration assists
them. The staff mails and screens juror personal history
questionnaires in accordance with the law and
coordinates the draw and mailing of summons for all
Ingham County courts. Jury Administration staff also
acts as liaison with the public.
You Can Make a Difference
Without you, the jury system can not
work. We know that jury service means rearranging
schedules, canceling appointments, and oftentimes
missing work. But if you were on trial, wouldn't you
want someone like you to make the sacrifices necessary
to be a part of your jury? Your public service as a
juror protects our right to have a trial by an impartial
jury.
General Questions
about Jury Service.
How did we get your name?
We obtain names from the Secretary of
State from their driver license and state ID lists. If
the information you provide to these two sources is not
identical you may receive two questionnaires.
What is the Difference between a
Questionnaire and a Summons?
The
Questionnaire
is a screening
document which is used to determine if prospective
jurors are qualified to serve. Once received, the
Questionnaire must be filled out and returned to Jury
Administration within 10 days. The
Summons is an order
from the Court to report for jury duty and must be
honored. The date you are to report and instructions
regarding reporting can be found on the Summons. Failure
to report for jury duty as instructed on the Summons may
result in fines, jail or both.
