International Migratory Bird Day & Be A Tourist in Your Own Town

International Migratory Bird Day celebrates spring, and with it the return of millions of migratory birds to their breeding areas! Nearly 350 species of migratory birds travel between nesting habitats in North America and non-breeding grounds in South and Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

County Beaches and Splash Pad Opening

All beaches will open on Saturday, May 24, 2014.  Beach hours for the 2014 summer season will be 12:00pm through 8:00pm every day at Hawk Island and Lake Lansing Park-South and weekends and holidays at Burchfield Park, weather permitting. The Splash Pad® at Hawk Island will open on Saturday, May 24, 2014.  Splash Pad hours are 9:00am to 8:00pm, seven days a week, weather permitting.
