Ingham County provides financial support to various community agencies that are primarily non-profit organizations. Often using volunteers, these organizations provide a variety of important services to residents across the County.
The Ingham County Board of Commissioners has an annual application process whereby eligible agencies may identify how they propose to meet the County's strategic planning objective of Meeting Basic Needs, the amount of funds they are requesting, how they collaborate with other government or community agencies, and how the County appropriation will leverage other sources of funds to meet the organization’s and County's objectives. Priority consideration will be given to applicants that meet the objective of Meeting Basic Needs; however, if there are funds available, secondary consideration will be given to agencies serving vulnerable populations.
The annual allocation process is tied into the County annual budget process and starts with a Community Agency Application. All applications must be received by the July 31st, 2017, 5:00pm deadline.
The Ingham County Community Agency Application for 2018 funding is available on Ingham County’s web page. Applicants may download the application materials/packet/and criteria on the web by visiting http://co.ingham.org/. Requests for an application packet or for additional information can be made via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or by contacting the Controller’s Office at (517) 676-7206. We encourage you to complete your application online. Required documentation may be uploaded as a part of this online process.
Becoming a Power of We member is strongly encouraged. To become a member contact Joni Risner at email@example.com. Two membership forms are available on the Controller’s webpage. Once these forms have been received Ms. Risner will contact your organization to schedule a one-on-one conversation about the benefits of participation and opportunities to contribute to the various workgroups and committees. To learn more about the Power of We Consortium visit their website at www.powerofwe.org.
Applications are reviewed by County staff and legal counsel to make sure they meet the County’s objectives and legal restrictions regarding the use of public funds. The resulting funding recommendations from the Ingham County Controller/Administrator will go to the Human Services and Finance Committees before going onto the full Ingham County Board of Commissioners for approval sometime in October or November 2017. In 2017, $220,000 was made available to local organizations and agencies supporting the Board of Commissioners' priorities.
