WHAT WE DO...
The Prosecuting Attorney's Office reviews all requests
for complaints and warrants involving violations of
state law, Michigan State University and/or County
ordinances, represents the people in all criminal cases
within the County in the district and circuit courts and
the appeals courts of Michigan. The Prosecuting
Attorney reviews all petitions involving juvenile
persons under 17 who engage in State law violations, as
well as abuse and neglect matters and represents the
people and victims all County probate court matters,
including mental petitions and commitments. This office
is responsible for working with victims of crime
under the Michigan Constitution and Crime Victims Rights
Act.
The
Prosecutor represents the interests of the minor child
in cases of unwed motherhood, including the
establishment of paternity and support.
