Shift Work Schedules ( nigh shift)

 

Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Health Department Community Health Services Director and the RN Head Nurse, will be responsible for the assessment of acute and chronic health problems demonstrated by the population of the corrections facility of the County. Provides intake medical screening and review on new inmates at time of booking. Will respond to medical emergencies throughout the corrections facility. Will consult and follow the orders of the Physician on-call. Maintains charts and actions taken. Will stock pharmaceutical products for distribution to the inmate population as is prescribed. May perform simple laboratory procedures such as pregnancy tests, urinalysis and blood sugar tests. May occasionally perform phlebotomy. Performs other duties as assigned by the physician, RN Head Nurse, or other administration personnel.

 

Essential Job Functions: With or without accommodations, this employee must be a licensed Registered Nurse and have the ability to perform nursing duties under state regulations. Must be capable of lifting weights (up to 10 lbs) and pushing wheel chairs, carts and other medical equipment. Will be required to walk to various posts and locations throughout the facility on a regular daily basis. Must be capable of standing, bending, sitting and squatting throughout the day for periods of minutes to 1 hour for patient assessment and regular other duties. Frequently will be required to climb stairs and walk on various terrains in the facility. Must have the ability to operate general office equipment for typing, charting and some data entry. Must be capable of working responsibly alone on the afternoon shift.

 

Degree/Experience: Must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan with 10 to 12 months previous related work experience. Assessment skills and training highly desired.
