CLINIC ASSISTANT TECHNICIAN I #08-019    (PART TIME)                                     $14.05/hr. - $16.86/hr.

Responsibilities:  Under general direction provides clinical and clerical support for nurse clinicians and physicians at a Health Department Community Health Center.  Performs lab work such as hematocrit, venipuncture and urinalysis and takes responsibility for tests getting to appropriate destination.  Prepares patients for examinations and checks weights, heights and blood pressures.  Performs screening tests such as vision and hearing, etc.  Maintains patient billing, statistical records, clinic inventory and makes patient appointments.  Answers the telephone providing routine information and provides other clerical support.  Will perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:  With or without accommodations, this employee will be required to be capable of performing venipuncture and preparing lab specimens.  Must be capable of visually reading results; mail, charts and other data.  Will be required to communicate verbally and listen to patients.  Lifts, pushes, pulls and carries weight (15 lbs to 30 lbs) regularly.  Stands, sits, bends, and squats for various lengths of time throughout the day.  Walks throughout the clinic daily and may climb ladders.  At times may be involved in restraining difficult patients involving twisting and turning.

Degree/Experience: Must be a high school graduate or have equivalent education.  Additional schooling or related technical training desired.  Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant Program preferred.
