COMMUNICABLE DISEASE CONTROL SUPERVISOR #08-026 $65,671 - $78,822
Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Deputy Health Officer, the Disease Control Supervisor is the Manager for the Disease Control Program. The Disease Control Supervisor is responsible for budget development, the development and management of contracts with community agencies, and health care providers; program planning; implementation, evaluation and assuring compliance with state guidelines and policies for communicable disease control, prevention and control of lead poisoning, and HIV/AIDS programs, and supervision of staff associated with these efforts. Responsible for the development and management of a communicable disease reporting process that meets the needs of the department and is in compliance with all state and federal requirements. Responsible for the coordination of occupational and other Health Department related health and safety issues. Responsible for the provision of staff development trainings, related to continuing education, health and safety, mandated OSHA, etc., for the Health Department personnel. Responsible for overall management of Nursing Home evaluation program. Performs other related duties as required.
Essential Job Functions: With or without accommodations, this employee must be capable of performing the following abilities: Operates computers and word processing equipment processing letters and other formatted information. Must be able to communicate using a standard telephone, making public presentation and have excellent writing skills. Works in office conditions. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood and other bodily fluids
Degree/ Experience: Bachelor’s degree in a health or related field required. Registered nurse or Master’s Degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, Public Health Administration, or a related field preferred. Must have five years of related experience dealing with supervision, program development, establishing planned protocols and other policies and guidelines. Must have excellent public relations and public speaking skills. Knowledge of disease containment, and investigation desired and preferred. Must have possession of a valid Michigan Driver’s License. Driving records will be checked as part of the referral process. You must be able to meet the standards of the Ingham County Driving Records Policy for referral. Must submit a copy of your Nurse’s license. MUST submit cover letter, resume and transcripts with County application.
