GENERAL RULES

1. All guns must be unloaded and in a case when you come to the range (BB & Pellet guns included). Guns will be inspected by Range Officials, before being taken to the firing line.

2. All contestants must wear safety glasses while at the firing line. Hearing protection must be worn for all Rifle, Shotgun and Black Powder competition.

3. Contestants must have completed a DNR Hunter Education program or NRA Basic Rifie/Shotgun Fundamentals class, to participate in Rifle, Shotgun or Black Powder divisions.

4. Contestants must compete in proper age division according to age attained during current calendar year.

5. No parental coaching will be allowed at the firing line during competition.

6. Field Rifle division: ".22cal rim-fire rifles with open or hunting style peep sights only" Rifle weight not to exceed 7 pounds. Barrel diameter at the muzzle must not exceed 3/4 inch. No scopes or slings will be allowed in this division. Ammunition will be provided and distributed by range officials at the firing line.

               Targets (NRA) A-32.          Range: 50 Ft.             3 Positions: Prone, Kneeling, Offhand

7. Target Rifle division: ".22cal. rim-fire target rifles only". See state 4-H rules for equipment specifications. No Schutzen type butt plates, palm rests, or telescopic sights allowed. Adjustable butt plates must be placed in the vertical position. Participants may provide their own ammunition, box must be marked with shooters name and checked in during registration Ammunition will be distributed by range officials at the firing line.

                Targets (NRA) A-17          Range: 50 Ft.             3 Positions: Prone, Kneeling, Offhand

8. Black Powder division; "Traditional Flint Lock or Cap Lock muzzle loading firearms only".  No scopes will be allowed in this division. Patched round balls only (no conical or sabot bullets).   Pyrodex or Black Powder only (no Pyrodex pellets) maximum charge 60 grains. Shooters to provide their own powder, round balls and patches.

9. NEW: Open class Black Powder division; "In-line muzzle loading firearms with or with out scope" or '`Traditional muzzle loading firearms with scope" (any caliber). Conical or Sabot bullets will be allowed in this division only. Pyrodex or Black Powder only (no Pyrodex pellets) maximum charge 90 grains. Shooters to provide their own powder and bullets.

10.  Trap Shoot will consist of two rounds 25 birds each, for the best of 50 bird score.

11. Medals will be awarded for the first three places in each division. Ribbons will be awarded to all contestants. Medals and ribbons will be presented on Tuesday, August 1, 2006 at 7:00 pm, in the Shirley Clark Pavilion.
