Lake Lansing Park - North Land Acquisition Program
How can you help...

FUNDRAISING UPDATE

Thanks to everyone who gave generously to help preserve this beautiful woodlot for future generations.   Over $157,000 has been donated!  The Preserve the Trails group committed earlier this summer to raise $150,000 to support the purchase of 120 acres of land adjacent to Lake Lansing Park - North.

Funds in excess of $150,000 will be held in trust for the benefit of the property.

For 20 years we have enjoyed the privilege of using the southern trails known as the orange trail and part of the blue trail.  You may have thought the entire trail system was part of Lake Lansing Park-North, however, a portion of the trails are owned by a housing developer.  Our goal is to preserve this unique and natural setting that offers trail users a pathway through beautiful oak woodlands surrounded by ponds.  We now have the unique opportunity to acquire these 120 acres of land that are the best that nature offers to add to our park system!

LAND PURCHASE UPDATE
On August 1, 2008, the Ingham County Parks Department submitted a grant request to the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund (MNRTF).  The anticipated total cost of the project is $2,700,000.  Funding is broken down in the following manner:  $675,000 - Meridian Land Preservation Fund; $150,000 - Friends of Ingham County Parks; $25,000 - Ingham County; and $1,850,000 - MNRTF.

Ingham County anticipates learning the outcome of the grant application in early December of 2008!
