The Chaplain Corp was established in 1991 to provide support and encouragement to the Sheriff’s Deputies, staff, and their families. As ordained ministers, the Chaplains volunteer their time for a variety of activities, such as:
- Home and hospital visitation
- Conversation with officers on patrol or working in the jail
- Offer support during times of need, such as funerals
- Provide employee and family counseling
- Confidential listening

Pastors have become a vital resource to the men and women of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office who serve the community. Situations that are often hostile and dangerous can have a very wearing effect on Corrections and Law Enforcement personnel. The support offered by the Chaplain Corp provides the peace and comfort of a compassionate listening ear and the spiritual counseling that can make a major difference in the lives of employees and their families.
