The Disabled Parking Enforcement Team was formed in 1992 as a specialized unit of deputized volunteers who enforce disabled parking and fire lane statutes of the Michigan Motor Vehicle Code. Each member of the team receives specific training in departmental policy, courtroom testimony and procedure, and citation writing. Members volunteer several hours of their time patrolling public and private parking areas where violations may occur. Citations or warnings are issued when violations are observed.
