What We Do . . .

It is the mission of the Ingham County Sheriff's Office to assist the citizens of Ingham County in our mutual desire for a safe and secure community through our dedication to provide correctional, law enforcement, and related services at the highest possible standards, while respecting the rights of all.

The Sheriff's Office is located in Mason, Michigan and ranks 5th largest in size out of 83 departments in the State of Michigan. The Ingham County Jail also ranks 5th largest in size, housing nearly 665 inmates. The Sheriff's Office is nationally recognized as a leader in both law enforcement and corrections.

Michigan Sheriff's Association STOPPED Program

Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth and the Michigan Sheriffs' Association (MSA) are pleased to introduce the STOPPED (Sheriffs Telling Our Parents and Promoting Educated Drivers) program.

STOPPED is a voluntary notification system that extends the watchful eyes of parents and raises the level of awareness for drivers under the age of 21.

NOTICE TO ALL VISITORS - Metal Detector Policy

Inmate Visiting:

Hours:   Monday through Friday   12 noon to 3:45 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
All visits must be completed by 10 p.m.
Varied Visiting Restrictions may apply

Wednesday: Adult Males, Last Name Initials: L-P 12 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 pm
Thursday: Adult Males, Last Name Initials: Q-Z 12 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 pm
Friday: Females 12 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 pm
Friday: Juveniles No Visits 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 pm

Visiting Hours - Clergy/Professional (Must show valid credentials)
Clergy Members Allowed One (1) Visit Per Week

Clergy 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. 11:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. No Visits
Professional 8:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. 11:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 pm
Check in Times: Check in by 9:45 a.m. Check in by 3:45 p.m. Check in by 9:30 p.m.

Special Visits Authorized by Jail Administration/Command only.

Inmates are allowed one visit per week.

All visits are 20 minutes in length with no more than two approved people.

Children and infants are considered a visitor.

Visitor must be on inmate's approved visitor's list prior to the visit.   Messages cannot be given to inmates to have names added to the visitor's list.

Visits are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Names of people on visiting lists will not be given over the telephone.
