The function of the Jail Commissary is to provide items that the inmates may purchase. These items include products from necessities to food items. Because of the restriction of items allowed to be brought into the facility, inmates can purchase socks, underclothing, writing materials, food snacks and other miscellaneous items.

Computerization of the purchase process assists in dealing with the large amount of orders handled. A complete computer report is run each week to verify and balance the accounts.

In the near future, on an even more sophisticated computer program is going to be implemented, making the process even more automated.
