RESOLUTION HONORING THOMAS WALTZ



RESOLUTION #04-138



WHEREAS, Thomas Waltz is a student at Mason High School where he is active in the Marching Band, National Honor Society and many other activities; and



WHEREAS, he has been active in Boy Scouting since 1998 and has served in leadership positions including Patrol Leader, Troop Guide, Librarian, Scribe and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader; and



WHEREAS, Thomas served as a Camp Counselor at Northwoods in 2002 and 2003, attended the BSA Florida Sea Base in the summer of 2003 and plans to attend the Michigan International Camporee in August of 2004; and



WHEREAS, his Eagle project consisted of re-landscaping a courtyard at Mason High School, installing new edging, bark and flowers; and



WHEREAS, thirty-two people assisted with this project under the supervision of Thomas, which took a total of 119 hours to complete; and



WHEREAS, as a member of Boy Scout Troop 141, Thomas has earned the highest rank attainable in Scouting, the Eagle Scout; and



WHEREAS, to achieve the Eagle rank, a scout must demonstrate leadership and citizenship while earning 21 merit badges before reaching the age of 18.



THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners congratulates Thomas Waltz for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extends its sincere appreciation to Thomas for serving as a positive role model for the youth in our community.
