INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE TO COLLECT A REGISTRATION

FEE AS RECOGNIZED IN THE SEX OFFENDERS REGISTRATION ACT

RESOLUTION #04-337

WHEREAS, Public Act 237 of 2004 has amended the Sex Offenders Registration Act; and

WHEREAS, effective October 16, 2004, all registered sex offenders must pay a one time $35.00 registration fee; and

WHEREAS, offenders not currently incarcerated shall pay the registration fee during the January 2005 verification period; and

WHEREAS, the local law enforcement agency will keep $10.00 of the money collected and the remaining $25.00 will be invoiced quarterly by the Department of State Police; and

WHEREAS, it is necessary to establish line items in the Sheriff’s Office 2004 and 2005 budgets to recognize the amended law.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Ingham County Sheriff's Office to collect $35.00 pursuant to the amended Sex Offenders Registration Act.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Sheriff’s Office to retain $10.00 of the $35.00 and the remaining $25.00 will be invoiced quarterly by the State Police.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Controller to make any necessary budget adjustments in the Ingham County Sheriff's Office 2004 and 2005 budgets.
