RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE A CONTRACT WITH EAST LANSING FOR ORDINANCE ENFORCEMENT SERVICES BY THE ANIMAL CONTROL DEPARTMENT
RESOLUTION #06-126
WHEREAS, the City of East Lansing has adopted an amendment to its Ordinance by adding sections 4-4(b) and 4-4(c) of the City of East Lansing Code of Ordinances regulating the feeding of stray cats; and
WHEREAS, the City of East Lansing is requesting a contract for Ordinance Enforcement Services, by the Animal Control Department to be limited to enforcement of sections 4-4(b) and 4-4(c) of the City of East Lansing Code of Ordinances regulating the feeding of stray cats; and
WHEREAS, the Law Enforcement Committee and the Animal Control Director support the provision of these limited expansion of Animal Control services in East Lansing under these new sections of the City of East Lansing Code of Ordinances.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes a contract with the City of East Lansing for Ordinance Enforcement Services by the Animal Control Department to be limited to enforcement of sections 4-4(b) and 4-4(c) of the City of East Lansing Code of Ordinances regulating the feeding of stray cats, at the specific request of authorized City officials.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of East Lansing will be responsible for the prosecution and the legal costs required in the prosecution of this municipal ordinance and that the City will remit to the County Treasurer any Court ordered expenses received by the City from a person found responsible for an ordinance violation.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the contract shall be for a one-year term commencing on January 1, 2006 for one year, and continuing for successive one-year terms thereafter until terminated by either party.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners and the County Clerk are hereby authorized to sign the appropriate contract documents necessary to implement the above, subject to approval as to form by the County Attorney.
