INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PARTICIPATION WITH THE

 LANSING POLICE DEPARTMENT PROJECT SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS GRANT

RESOLUTION #08-155

WHEREAS, the Lansing Police Department entered into a Project Safe Neighborhoods Grant Agreement with the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs; and

WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant is to provide enforcement action and problem solving strategies against gangs, guns, and drugs throughout Ingham County; and 

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office wishes to participate with the Lansing Police Department in the operation of the Project Safe Neighborhoods grant acquired by the Lansing Police Department; and

WHEREAS, the Lansing Police Department shall reimburse Ingham County from the grant funds for the Sheriff Deputies’ overtime wages and personnel costs not to exceed $15,000.00.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office to participate and contract with the Lansing Police Department in the Project Safe Neighborhoods grant, for an amount up to $15,000.00, for the time period of June 1, 2008 through December 31, 2008.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Controller is authorized to amend the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office 2008 budget in accordance with this resolution.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, the County Clerk, and the Sheriff are authorized to sign any necessary contract documents consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
