RESOLUTION HONORING DEPUTY RICK O’DELL

 

RESOLUTION #08-178

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Rick O'Dell began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office on August 6, 1983, in September of 1983, he was one of the first graduates of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Academy; and

 

WHEREAS, during his years of service with the Sheriff’s Office he was assigned to duties as a Corrections Deputy working in inmate housing at the jail for the first seven years, and also serving as an inmate worker coordinator during that time; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy O'Dell spent the next fourteen years as a Receiving Deputy, one of the most demanding positions within the Ingham County Sheriff's Office, and finished the last four years of his career as a Deputy assigned to inmate housing; and

 

WHEREAS, as one of the three original Corrections Training Officers, Deputy O'Dell trained many new deputies within the Corrections Division, he also served for eight years as a member of the Ingham County Sheriff's Office Dive team; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy O’Dell earned four Unit Citations during his career along with two Life Saving Awards for the rescue of an 8 year old who had fallen through the ice into a pond in Meridian Township, and for rescuing an inmate in a suicide attempt in the Jail.

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Rick O’Dell is retiring from his position with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Deputy Rick O’Dell for 25 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ingham County and wishes him continued success in all of his future endeavors.
