INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A PROPERTY DISPOSITION SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH PROPERTYROOM.COM, INC.

RESOLUTION #08-180

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office acquires various items of property that have been abandoned, forfeited or for which there is no identified owner; and 

WHEREAS, past practice has been to auction these items resulting in personnel costs and limited return; and

WHEREAS, PropertyRoom.Com, Inc. is a corporation that picks up and transports property from law enforcement and municipal agencies nation-wide and auctions the property online to the public; and

WHEREAS, a percentage of the proceeds from the online sale is returned to the agency in monthly disbursements; and

WHEREAS, the only cost to the agency is a nominal fuel surcharge based on current diesel fuel costs at the time of transport, and the fuel surcharge will not exceed $74.40 per transport; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office wishes to enter into a contract with PropertyRoom.Com, Inc. for the disposition of abandoned, forfeited or otherwise unclaimed property.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office to enter into an agreement with PropertyRoom.Com, Inc. for a one year period with automatic one year renewals unless either party gives sixty day (60) day written notice for the disposition of abandoned, forfeited or otherwise unclaimed property.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Chairperson of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners, the County Clerk, and the Sheriff are authorized to sign any necessary contract documents consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
