RESOLUTION HONORING LIEUTENANT JEFF COOK OF THE

INGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

RESOLUTION #09-286

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Jeff Cook graduated from Ferris State University in 1983 with B.A. Degree in Criminal Justice; and

WHEREAS, Lieutenant Cook was hired by the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office as a corrections officer in August 1983; and

WHEREAS, Jeff left the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office (ICSO) in December of 1983 to join the Delhi Township Police Department as a patrol officer serving there for seven years; in 1990, he re-joined ICSO as a Detective when Delhi Township Police Department disbanded; and

WHEREAS, in 1995 Detective Cook was assigned to the Tri-County Metro Narcotics Squad where he worked on the Tri-County Grand Jury Investigation, as well as working several major federal drug investigations with the FBI, DEA, ATF, Customs & INS, putting many drug kingpins in jail for life; and

WHEREAS, Jeff was promoted to Sergeant in August 1997 were he was assigned to field services; as Sergeant, Jeff worked in several assignments including field services, corrections and the training unit; and

WHEREAS, Jeff was promoted to Lieutenant in July 2000 were he was assigned as a Commander in corrections; as a Lieutenant, Jeff was also assigned to the Delhi Office, the Detective Bureau and Field Services; and

WHEREAS, in 2006, Lieutenant Cook attended and graduated from the 224th FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; and

WHEREAS, over his career with ICSO, Lieutenant Cook received over 100 letters of recognition, praise and commendations, as well as five (5) unit citations and one (1) Meritorious Service Award; Jeff was also awarded the 1990 Lifesaver Award by M.A.D.D. for his dedication to arresting drunk drivers; and

WHEREAS, after 26 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ingham County, Lieutenant Cook retired on May 26, 2009 to take another position with the Michigan Department of Corrections.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Lieutenant Jeff Cook for over 26 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ingham County and wishes him continued success in all of his future endeavors.
