RESOLUTION HONORING JUANITA MITCHELL CHAPMAN

 

RESOLUTION #09-289

 

WHEREAS, Juanita Mitchell Chapman held the position of the Emergency Services Director for the Capital Area Community Services, Inc. from 1982 through 2009; and

 

WHEREAS, Juanita dedicated countless hours to the community as she volunteered for the Lansing Neighborhood Council, serving as President in 1990; South Precinct Board;  Potter/Walsh Neighborhood Association, serving as President in 1990; Greater Lansing Neighborhood Homeless Resolution Network; Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in the capacity of Financial Secretary; and

 

WHEREAS, she also served on the Eastside Community Action Center Board of Directors; Flower in Bloom Committee; Paint Blitz Committee; Mayor David Hollister’s Blue Ribbon Education Committee and Committee to Retain General Motors, and was also nominated for a Bea Christy award; and

 

WHEREAS, Juanita was an advocate for the poor and was always willing to do whatever she could for at risk youth and vulnerable adults; and

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Juanita Mitchell Chapman for the many contributions she has made to the citizens of Ingham County.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Juanita touched the lives of many and will long be remembered for her devotion and commitment to the community.
