INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

 

RESOLUTION TO PURCHASE COMPUTERS FOR THE INGHAM ACADEMY

 

RESOLUTION #09-313

 

WHEREAS, the Ingham Academy, a day treatment program, continues to provide educational support to court adjudicated youth who have not been successful in their home school; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ingham Intermediate School District provides the personnel and supplies needed for the educational component to the treatment program; and

 

WHEREAS, the majority of the youth attending the Ingham Academy are in need of credit recovery in order to meet the goal of graduation with a high school diploma; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ingham Intermediate School District would like to implement Education 2020 which offers on-line courses that are aligned to the Michigan Merit Curriculum as well as other video instruction enhancements; and

 

WHEREAS, the recycled computers currently in use at the Family Center will not accommodate this software; and

 

WHEREAS, there will be a surplus of funds in the line item budgeted for the Ingham Intermediate School District which can be used to purchase 31 new computers to be placed in the computer lab and each of the five classrooms; and

 

WHEREAS, the cost for each computer is $781.60, for a total of $24,229.60.

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the purchase of 31 computers at a cost of $24,229.60, to be charged to the Family Division’s existing Child Care Fund (CCF) 2009 Budget to enhance the educational services at the Ingham Academy.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Controller/Administrator is authorized to make the necessary budget adjustments and the Purchasing Department is authorized to issue the necessary purchase order or purchase documents needed.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes the Board Chairperson and the County Clerk to sign any necessary contract documents that are consistent with this resolution and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
