INGHAM COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS

 

RESOLUTION TO  DECLARE THE CONSTRUCTION PHASE OF THE INGHAM COUNTY PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM OVER AND TO ENCOURAGE ALL INGHAM COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES TO ADOPT ORDINANCES REQUIRING PUBLIC SAFETY AMPLIFICATION SYSTEMS

 

RESOLUTION #09-088

 

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners operates the Ingham County Public Safety Radio Communications System; and

 

WHEREAS, during the construction phase of the Ingham County Public Safety Radio Communications System, funds were budgeted and there was a number of critical buildings identified whereby the County purchased and installed a quantity of Bi-directional Amplifiers (BDAs) and Uni-directional Amplifiers (UDAs) to enhance the Public Safety Radio Communications System in Ingham County at these critical buildings; and

 

WHEREAS, the public safety and welfare within Ingham County would be greatly enhanced if all new building construction and major building renovations included public safety amplification systems; and

 

WHEREAS, many progressive communities have adopted Ordinances to ensure that new construction and major renovations of buildings within their communities are designed with adequate in-building public safety amplification systems to enhance public safety communications; and

 

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Board of Commissioners has passed a resolution and sent correspondence and supporting documentation out to all Ingham County municipalities, to urge them to adopt Ordinances requiring public safety amplification systems for new construction and major renovations of buildings within their communities to safeguard Ingham County citizens and public safety officers.

 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby formally declares that the Ingham County Public Safety Radio Communications System building phase is now over, and states no further money is available from the County for Bi-directional Amplifiers (BDAs) and Uni-directional Amplifiers (UDAs) to enhance the Public Safety Radio Communications System in Ingham County at critical buildings.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby reiterates its position and urges all Ingham County municipalities to adopt Ordinances requiring public safety amplification systems for new construction and major renovations of buildings within their communities to safeguard Ingham County citizens and public safety officers.

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby reiterates its position and urges all Ingham County public entities, including all Ingham County School Districts, Lansing Community College, the State of Michigan, and Michigan State University to include public safety amplification systems for new construction and major renovations of their public buildings within Ingham County.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County Clerk shall send copies of this resolution to all Ingham County Municipalities, Ingham County School Districts, Lansing Community College, the State of Michigan, and Michigan State University.
