RESOLUTION TO HONOR RETIRED SERGEANT BRIAN VALENTINE OF THE INGHAM COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE FOR HIS DEDICATED 25 YEARS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT CAREER PROTECTING THE CITIZENS OF INGHAM COUNTY

 

RESOLUTION #10-245

 

WHEREAS, Sergeant Brian Valentine graduated from Lansing Community College in 1984; and

 

WHEREAS, he was hired by the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer in July 1985; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Valentine was assigned to the Mid Michigan Police Academy where he graduated in June 1986 and upon his graduation was assigned to Field Services as a Road Patrol Deputy; and

 

WHEREAS, in January 1986, Brian was assigned to the Paramedic Unit in Field Services, serving distinctively on numerous paramedic calls; and

 

WHEREAS, in December 1993, Brian was assigned to the Tri-County Metro Narcotics Unit as a drug investigator working many high profile drug investigations, arresting and convicting many high level drug dealers; and

 

WHEREAS, Deputy Brian Valentine was promoted to the rank of Detective in January 1995, where he was assigned to the Detective Bureau working 15 homicides including the Ricky Holland investigation and other high profile cases; and

 

WHEREAS, Detective Brian Valentine was also assigned to the Tri-County Cold Case Task Force, investigating several high profile, cold homicide cases with great success; and

 

WHEREAS, Brian was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in March of 2008, briefly being assigned to Field Services Road Patrol then re-assigned back to the Detective Bureau as the Detective Sergeant in April 2009; and

 

WHEREAS,  throughout his 25 years of dedicated service to the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, Brian served for twenty years on the Dive team, was a certified defensive tactics trainer and driving instructor as well as a Field Training Officer (FTO); and

 

WHEREAS, over his career with Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, Sergeant Valentine received over 100 letters of recognition, praise and commendations, as well as seven (7) Unit Citations and four (4) Meritorious Service Awards; and  

 

WHEREAS, after 25 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ingham County, Sergeant Brian Valentine is retiring on June 30, 2010.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners hereby honors Sergeant Brian Valentine for his 25 years of dedicated service to the citizens of Ingham County and wishes him continued success in all of his future endeavors.
