RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE AN AMENDMENT TO THE NURSE

PRACTITIONER SERVICES AGREEMENT WITH MICHIGAN

 STATE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE OF NURSING

RESOLUTION #10-375

WHEREAS, the Health Department has contracted with the Michigan State University College of Nursing (MSU CON) for Nurse Practitioner services for its Correctional Health Services Unit since January 1, 2007; and

WHEREAS, the most recent contract for nursing services with MSU CON was authorized in resolution #09-427 and extends to December 31, 2012; and

WHEREAS, the Ingham County Health Department has been unable to fill a Nurse Practitioner position at Cedar Community Health Center’s Women’s Health Center resulting in decreased services available for clients; and

WHEREAS, the Health Department advises that the quality of services provided by MSU CON’s Nurse Practitioners is very good; and

WHEREAS, the Health Officer recommends that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorize an amendment to the Nurse Practitioner Services Agreement with MSU CON to add twelve (12) hours of Nurse Practitioner services for the Cedar Community Health Center Women’s Health Center at the same rate as is authorized in the current agreement.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners authorizes an amendment to the Nurse Practitioner Services Agreement with Michigan State University College of Nursing to add twelve (12) hours of Nurse Practitioner services for the Cedar Community Health Center’s Women’s Health Center.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the County will pay MSU CON the same rate for Nurse Practitioner services at the Cedar Community Health Center as is paid in the current agreement authorized in resolution #09-427.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the amended agreement will be effective on or before January 1, 2011 and shall extend to December 31, 2012.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Board Chairperson is authorized to sign the agreement with the College of Nursing after review by the County Attorney.
