RESOLUTION #10-168
WHEREAS, Calvin Lynch was born in
WHEREAS, upon his graduation from Harry Hill High School, Calvin attended the University of Michigan and Syracuse Law School, then went on to pass the Michigan Law Bar exam; and
WHEREAS, Calvin was a member of the Chief Okemos Boy Scout Council, Board member of Girl Scouts of Michigan Capital, where he also served on the property committee and as a camp counselor for Day Camp; and
WHEREAS, Calvin began serving as an Ingham County Commissioner in 1999 representing the residents of District 6 through 2004; and
WHEREAS, during his 6 years of service on the Ingham County Board of Commissioners he served as a member of the Administrative Services/Personnel, Human Services, Judiciary, Law & Courts and Finance Committees, and served as Chairperson of the Law & Courts Committee in 2001, and Chairperson of the Finance Committee in 2004; and
WHEREAS, Calvin became the first African American male to serve as Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners in 2003, as a Commissioner he served as an Ingham County representative on the Capital Area Michigan Works Consortium, Michigan Association of Counties Board of Directors and as a committee member for the National Association of Counties; and
WHEREAS, he was an avid licensed pilot, and a member of
the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association where he focused on strengthening
Aviation in the Mid-Michigan area, and also represented
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners
hereby honors Calvin Lynch for his many contributions, and the countless hours
he has devoted to the citizens of
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Calvin has touched the lives of many and will live forever in the hearts of his colleagues, friends and family – especially his loving wife Cathy and daughter Danielle.
